Information Sent Directly
Search terms
A name, location, or other text entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider operating that tool. Jefferson County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's privacy notice and terms govern what it receives and keeps.
Messages and submissions
Email or contact-form messages are retained long enough to read, answer, and keep a reasonable correspondence record. They are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law, needed to address a security issue, or necessary to use a service that delivers the message.
Technical Details Collected
Web servers, analytics tools, security services, and hosting systems may record ordinary technical data when a page loads. Depending on the service in use, that data can include:
- Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on each
- Referring site, when one is supplied
- Access dates and timestamps
Cookies and similar tools
Cookies may help measure how visitors use the pages, keep a feature working, or support advertising and analytics. Browser settings can block or remove cookies. Some features may behave differently when they are blocked. A third-party service may set its own cookie under its own policy.
How Information Is Used
Collected information may be used for the ordinary purposes below:
- Keep the pages available, secure, and reasonably fast.
- Route a search request to the outside partner that supplies the search tool.
- Understand which pages are useful and where visitors encounter problems.
- Find errors, abuse, outages, and technical faults.
- Display advertising that may be relevant to a visitor's interests.
The site does not treat a search query as an official request to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office or another government custodian. A request for a booking record must go through the agency's published process, such as the county's Open Records Request page.
Links Beyond These Pages
The pages link to the Jefferson County jail, Sheriff's Office, Records Division, Clerk, city police departments, Georgia corrections, court portals, federal locators, news outlets, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows one of those links, the destination's privacy policy controls its collection and use of data.
Some advertising partners may track activity across different sites to measure or tailor ads. That activity occurs on their systems, not as a promise that Jefferson County Busted Mugshots can see or control every downstream event. Review the destination's notice before submitting personal information.
Who May Receive Data
Personal data is not sold by Jefferson County Busted Mugshots as a general practice. It may be received by the following categories when needed for the purposes above or when law requires:
- Search partners handling text submitted to their tools
- Analytics providers measuring page use
- Advertising networks supporting displayed ads
- Law-enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order or legal duty
A request sent directly to the Jefferson County Records Division is governed by the county agency's handling rules, not by this notice.
Security Efforts
Reasonable standard security practices are used for the services under the site's control. No internet-connected system is fully secure, however. There is no promise that data will be immune from every breach, outage, interception, or unauthorized access.
Visitors Under Eighteen
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information, a parent or guardian may use the contact route to ask that it be deleted, subject to records that must be retained by law or for a legal purpose.
Your Privacy Choices
Depending on the applicable law and the information held, a person may ask about:
- A copy of personal data held by the site
- Correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion of information that the site is allowed to remove
- Opting out of certain processing or communications
Send a clear request through the Contacts page and describe the data or action sought. A request sent to a government custodian, such as JCSO or the Clerk, must be directed to that office instead.
Changes to This Notice
This notice may be revised when the services, law, or data practices change. A new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised notice applies to future use, subject to rights that cannot be waived.
